Gibbs battles demons from younger years of neglect and abuse due to a drug-addicted mother. He lives simply as an arborist who visits the local watering hole, and keeps to himself, preferring the comfort of his dingy duplex and a best friend who always has his back.

But a phone call changes that. Child Protective Services reaches out to him with an extraordinary situation, requesting he care for his ex-girlfriend’s daughter. He reluctantly agrees to take a child he doesn’t know and a series of fateful encounters lead them to a shocking discovery that changes their path together.
